Nvidia introduced RTX Voice almost two weeks ago. The technology enables (extremely good!) noise suppression using the graphics card. Keystrokes from mechanical keyboards, vacuum cleaner noises or loud notebook fans should be effectively filtered out. Nvidia originally only intended this feature for the latest graphics cards of its own RTX generation. However, it is also possible to use the function on graphics chips from the older GTX generation.
Prerequisites:
In order for the function to be supported, you need an up-to-date graphics driver. Nvidia itself specifies version 410.18 or higher as a requirement.
In addition, it is recommended (not only for this project) to install a good text editor such as Notepad++ to be able to edit the configuration file better.
Officially, you also need a graphics card from the RTX series. However, our tests also worked with various GTX cards. We were even able to use the 9th generation cards.
Installation
The configuration is very simple and can be done within 5 minutes. Markus shows you how to do it in the video:
Once your graphics driver is up to date, you need to run the RTX Voice App installer once. If you do not have an RTX graphics card, this will terminate with an error message.
In this case, you need to change to your main drive (usually C:) in Windows Explorer and open the file „RTXVoice.nvi“ in the folder „temp/NVRTXVoice\NvAFX“ in Notepad++.
Then open the „setup.exe“file under „temp/NVRTXVoice“. The installer should now complete without an error message and you can use RTX Voice.
Configuration
In order for the app to know which microphone (or speaker) it should use for noise cancellation, you now need to enter your devices in the interface. You can also use the checkboxes to activate or deactivate the function as required.
RTX Voice is now fully configured. However, you still need to set the newly added audio device as the source in the programs in which you want to use the noise suppression (e.g. Teamspeak, Discord or OBS).
For optimal results, Nvidia recommends that additional functions for noise cancellation / background noise filtering are deactivated in the corresponding programs.
